A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"This shop is located at the far right end of the building. It's a simple cafe but not a wide selection, but enough to feed a hungry tummy. The coffee was nice and the chips were yummy, but a tad expensive. If you are planning to spend some time at the museum, this is your only cafe on site."
"Stopped in at the Mercury Café before exploring the museum — what a find! The chicken burger was amazing and those fries… perfection! Under new caterers, so give them a go. You won't be disappointed"
"I recently enjoyed a vegan meal at the Mercury Restaurant, who are under new management, and it was absolutely delicious! I had the falafels with a chickpea salad, and both were beautifully prepared. The falafels were crisp on the outside and soft inside, perfectly seasoned without being overpowering. I’m usually a bit wary of falafels because I’m not a fan of cumin, but these completely won me over — flavourful, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The chickpea salad complemented the dish wonderfully, adding a light and refreshing touch. Overall, it was a delightful meal in a lovely setting. I’ll definitely be back for more — it’s such a great spot for a satisfying vegan lunch, however, if you are vegan there is only one option. But again it's delicious!"
"This review is for Mercury RESTAURNT, not the cafe. My husband and I stopped to have a bite to eat at Mercury Restaurant after attending the Fantastical Beasts Exhibition. We can only say positive things about our experience. I ordered the avocado and I asked for my eggs to be well cooked ($18) and my husband ordered the chicken Caesar salad ($22). Both dishes were well seasoned, tasty, and of good portion size. The avocado was absolutely delicious, and the toast was cooked perfectly and a perfect spread of butter too. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the C.C. Salad was also very well cooked. The service was lovely and the waiter friendly too. All in all a very good experience, that actually exceed our expectations."
"Best visit so far. Delicious coffee today at 10am On 5th July. Props to the barista. Got an executive junior pack too which was well received by the 15 month old critic. Edit: 3rd visit in two weeks - making the most of membership. Coffee has remained the same - excellent. That’s more than I can say for most cafes in Melbourne."
"Star Wars Galactic Cafe- It wasn't amazing but we still liked it. The cafe was cute, food was good."
"The menu and food was good for a pop up cafe, but could have had a better selection of drinks. This range was limited. Atmosphere was good for the space with a few statues and memorabilia. The service team were lovely and helpful, we would recommend going if you were visiting the museum or in the area."
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Incredible – A Must-See Exhibition! The Star Wars exhibition at the Melbourne Museum is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment you walk in, you're completely immersed in the magic of the galaxy far, far away. The amount of detail, artistry, and passion on display is unbelievable — especially knowing that the exhibition took an astounding 28,000 hours to create. You can truly feel the dedication in every single piece. Every item on display is absolutely worth viewing. The craftsmanship of the costumes, models, props, and interactive elements is impressive beyond words. Whether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan or just someone who appreciates world-class creativity, this exhibition will blow you away. If you're anywhere near Melbourne, do not miss it. One of the most impressive museum experiences I’ve ever had."
